I’ve been writing a My Three Words post every year since 2013.

If you don’t know what it is all about, check out this post for context 👉 About My Three Words

It’s the first video of the year. I woke up early…and it shows.

I couldn’t stop thinking about my three words.

I had a list of 10 different words and I finally settled on three.

My three words for 2015 are:

  1. Urgency
  2. Focused
  3. Outbound

Urgency

I want to play everyday like I’m in the two-minute warning.

If I don’t get these things done, I lose the opportunity. Things must get done.

Focused

I need to better choose WHERE I focus my energy.

I’ve tried to do too much, I’ve taken on too much.

It’s time to be more focused on where my energy goes.

Outbound

I cannot rely on the universe to simply bring me business because I want it. I’m not entitled to business, I don’t inherently deserve it, I must work for it, which means going and getting it. Our biggest client is the result of an outbound effort.

But it’s not just about new business; in my relationships, both personal and professional, I have put nearly all of the pressure for maintaining the relationship on the other person. Far too infrequently have I proactively reached out to a friend just to say hello. Far too few times have I reached out to someone in my professional network just to her how things are going, and how I might be able to help. I know this is selfish, and I can do better.
